Play is essential for children's overall development and is recognized as a fundamental right.However, it is often marginalized in education due to the separation between play and academiclearning. This study explores how teachers in Barra do Garças – MT perceive and apply play intheir pedagogy. Using a qualitative approach, it includes a literature review and structuredinterviews. Narrative analysis will identify patterns, challenges, and opportunities forincorporating play into early childhood education. The research aims to bridge the gap betweentheory and practice and provide recommendations for teacher training and inclusive educationalpolicies.
