Abstract

This work is an excerpt from research conducted under the PROFLETRAS program at UFC andaims to analyze the role of reading/listening in the use of oral genres, specifically the vlog. Itstarts from the principle that there is little visibility in the teaching of oral genres, with regard totextual comprehension, considering that the greatest incentive is given to the practice oflanguage, predominantly materialized in written/printed texts, which compromises greaterengagement with multiple cultures. Based on this initial observation, a vlog from thejournalistic-media field, from a website, was selected, thematically depicting environmentalactivism in an indigenous context, while simultaneously using a language closer to the dailylives of 9th-grade elementary school students, as well as socially important and current contentfor a more critical literacy in Portuguese language teaching. For this, the object is discussedbased on the theoretical framework of Bronckart (2003), Rojo (2012), and Volochinov (2013). Inpossession of the transcriptions of the aforementioned vlog, an analysis of the context ofproduction, thematic content, and paralinguistic elements was carried out, which can primarilyassist students in interpreting and reflecting on the themes addressed in vlogs, in general, providing an opportunity for more conscious reading and, furthermore, enabling greaterengagement and autonomy in language learning, as advocated by the BNCC (2018). Theprevious contributions resulting from this work revolve around the development of didacticmaterials focused on the reading/listening of oral, multisemiotic, and multimodal texts, enhancing teaching practice and, consequently, the field of education.
