Abstract

DAILY LIFE IN BRAZIL AT THE END OF THE SIXTIES: YEARS OF LEADBy capturing everyday life, art enables us, according to Georg Lukács, to find forms ofexpression of the movement of conflicts found in reality. In this study we will try to approach theconditions in which Caetano Veloso captures the daily life of the so-called "years of lead" inmilitary dictation in Brazil in the period from 1964 to 1985, translating them through musical art, with the production of his songs, becoming one of the leaders of "Tropicalism". This culturalmovement represented an idea of revolutionizing the various cultural manifestations in search ofgreater freedom of expression. Through the collection of various materials addressing thistheme, it was decided in a first stage of the study to make approximations on the concept ofeveryday life, from the considerations of the School of Budapest, and the texts of some of theartist’s songs, in order to confer the bases that serve as basis for the edification of songs.
