Abstract

The Santa Luzia Marmalade, a delicacy with a unique flavor produced in the region of Luziâniaand Cidade Ocidental, near the federal capital, Brasília, goes beyond its culinary function tobecome a cultural and heritage symbol. This study analyzes the marmalade from ananthropological perspective, understanding it as an element of local identity and a means oftransmitting intergenerational knowledge. The research is based on historical sources,ethnographic observation, and interviews with artisanal producers, highlighting the relationshipbetween production practices and the cultural values shared by the local community. The resultspoint to the reinterpretation of marmalade in contemporary times, either as a strategy of culturalresistance or as a product that drives tourism and the creative economy. The analysis showshow anthropology can contribute to the appreciation and preservation of intangible heritage,reinforcing the role of gastronomy in shaping cultural identities.
