ROUSSEAU AND READING THE FABLE AT SCHOOL

This study investigates some of Rousseau’s contributions to the education and why this philosopher condemned to work in school with fables. His book "Emile, or On education", is a philosophical treatise which revolutionized education in the world, mainly because it portrayed the child/childhood, a not very valued theme at the time. On his work, it is presented Emile, an imaginary student created by Rousseau, the philosopher dictates behavior norms and show us how to raise him. In addition, the chapters address the phases and characteristics in which a person shows its development. Through a bibliographical revision, it is possible to see the special look that Rousseau dedicates to the reading material destined to the infantile public which the school used and its real usefulness.
