The article is th e result of the qualitative study of the bibliography. The main
objective was to discuss the nature of work before the fetish of new technologies in
capitalist logic and the relationship with the educational proc es s. In this context, it was
perceived that the educational process is decoupled from post industrial society. For this,
in addition to the reading of texts produced by Marx (1982, 1988), support was sought in
thinkers of education and sociology, such as G ra msci (1979), Antunes (2009, 2011),
Mészáro s (2004) and Saviani (2011a, 2011b), among others. In the course of the text, the
categories of work, educational principle and new technologies are discussed, establishing
their relationship with the education o f workers in the construction of a class
con sciousness, fundamental conditions in the process of overcoming the present order.
The theoretical contributions analyzed in the study denounced the difficulties of working as
an educational principle, instrument o f emancipation and consciousness of the wo rking
class. For Marx (1982, 1988), the confrontation of the minimum conditions of existence of
workers will only be possible from the formation of a new consciousness.
