Abstract

This essay aims to understand the limits of the use of virtual spaces of interaction propitiated by the use of Information and Communication Digital Technologies in different contexts. Its central argument is to reflect on how social subjects use virtual territories to carry out various activities. Technology and its expansion, has provided significant changes in people's lives. The lack of technical knowledge and critical thinking leaves people in a situation of vulnerability and fragility in the face of a vast digital world of information. For this it is important to understand that the transition from the real to the virtual imposes limits to be respected. To contribute to this reflection, this essay points out a brief discussion on what is virtual, bringing authors such as Levy (1995), virtual reality with the contributions of Kirner and Kirner (2011), territory, based on the ideas of Haesbart (2003, 2007) and virtual territory, pointed out by Fragoso, Rebs, Barth (2010), authors such as Sanches and Angelo (2018) point out the harm of the use of technological resources for the purpose of honor crimes, pointing out the fragility of the Brazilian legislation. We end with Freire (1996) concepts for a liberating and democratic education, articulating with the ideas of Almeida and Valente (2011) in the perspective of integrating digital technologies in educational processes.
