Abstract

From the 19th century onwards, female insertion in education took place, which led to the emergence of a notable majority of female teachers, a fact that is still observed in Basic Education today. Leading to the movement called Teaching Feminization, object of our study. This article starts from a critical analysis of the transformations that occurred in the teaching profession, aiming to understand the historical and social aspects involved in the process of teaching feminization, as well as to present how the Union of Workers in Public Education of Paraná (APP-SINDICATO), has incorporated the teaching feminization as an element of analysis of the union movement. For that, a documentary and bibliographical analysis was carried out. With the study, it was possible to identify that the links between female characteristics and the transformations that occurred in society with women in search of a profession, influenced the female insertion in the teaching profession. We observed that the union has sought to reflect and propose policies that meet the interests of female teachers in the state.
