Abstract

This article presents an analysis of the peculiar representations of the author Bariani Ortencio (1924-2024). The main objective is to highlight his representativeness in the dissemination of Goiás culture through his multiple literary activities, emphasizing that he was a regionalist and folklorist writer and gave him more libidinal dedication. His regionalist short stories were the subject of the thesis The tale of Bariani Ortencio and the senses of Goianidade, completed by the author of this text, in 2019 in the Postgraduate Program at the Federal University of Goiás (UFG). The perspective for choosing the theme was the identification that Ortêncio, as well as Guimarães Rosa, Érico Veríssimo, Graciliano Ramos, with their literary styles valued regional culture. The announced thesis is qualitative in nature, with an eminently bibliographical methodology. And the method, the path, adopted is the Praxiological one, by the French sociologist, Pierre Bourdieu (1996; 2001; 2002; 2004 and 2006). To discuss the topic, specifically, the relationship between literature and human formation, there are texts by the sociologist of literature Antonio Candido (2000; 2002 and 2011) and Roger Chartier (2011; 2013), as well as other authors such as, for example, Lygia Chiappini (2017). An important highlight refers to the fact that the completion of Bariani Ortencio's thesis was 94 years old and, the writing of this combined text, to a large extent a fair tribute to the thematic inspirer, who passed away on December 15, 2023, leaving a heritage of more than 50 published books, and a novel that was being edited and is scheduled for release in July 2024.
